Taking the step to commit yourself to another person, for the rest of your life, deserves some type of commemoration. In a large part, this is done through your wedding which is shared with your family and friends. But, you may want something special, with a deeper meaning, for yourself and your partner. What about having custom wedding rings made, for you and your spouse, honoring the special day, in a small way?

We all want to remember those special times in our lives, which mean so much to us. Birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, and weddings rank probably at the very top of the list for life time changes which we want to always memorialize. It seems only proper that we will want a trinket to symbolize our commitments to one another.

It has been a myth that having specially made rings will cost too much. They usually cost approximately the same, as other ready made rings that are on display at jewelry stores. With what you adorn them does change the price (if you choose to have diamonds, for instance) but, that varies depending on the materials used.

Find a jewelry store (you can pinpoint them through word of mouth, the telephone directory, or the Internet), which you trust, and discuss with the staff, what your ideas are about the rings you both desire. Explain the details of your design, the choice of platinum, gold, silver, or a combination of these elements, and make any inquiries you feel are necessary. This is for your memory so do not be shy about getting the information you seek.

There are also jewelry stores which give you the option to actually make the rings. You work with an experienced jeweler, who helps you design, melt down, craft, and shine, your own, or your partner’s, ring. It would be so nice to be able to share with your grandchildren the fact that you and your spouse actually crafted one another’s rings. Think of the special heirlooms these will become for your family!

No matter how you look at it, wedding rings are very special items which can last several life times. They can be handed down to your grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Why not surprise your offspring with how creative you can be with elaborate custom wedding rings? Your legacy will be remembered for decades, if not centuries. What better way to leave a “footprint” in the lives of your family members?
